Lately, Facebook is in the mood for some big news. A new chat has been implemented which I have already told you about in recent days but among the most important innovations introduced on Mark Zuckerberg’s social network there is also the possibility of creating video calls via Skype.
Just install a small plug-in and video call appears among the chat options. Video chats made with this system are free and work on all major browsers. If you want to find out how to make video calls on Facebook in more detail, read the brief explanations I have prepared for you.
The first step you need to take to find out how to make video calls on Facebook is to install the Skype plug-in for video calling. Then connect to this Facebook page, click on the green button To start and select a person from the chat with whom you want to make a video call.
At this point, click on the button Start a video call (the camera icon) located in the upper right part of the chat box and, when asked to configure video calls, click on the button Configure to download the Skype plug-in to your PC.
In the window that opens, click on the button first Run twice in a row and then on Yup (to authorize installation on Windows 7 and Vista). Then wait for the download and installation process of the Skype plug-in to finish (it should take a few moments), click on Allow and the video call with your friend should start automatically.
If the video chat with your friend does not start, it means that he has refused the video call request from you (it works a bit like Messenger in this sense) or that he still does not have the plug-in. Skype for Facebook in your browser. This plug-in, in fact, is independent from Skype and must be installed even if you already have Skype on your PC.
That’s all! From now on, you can make video calls on Facebook simply by starting the chat with the friends with whom you want to make the video call and clicking on the button Start a video call (the camera-shaped icon) located in the upper right part of the chat box itself.
If the chat request is accepted, the video call will start within a few moments, otherwise Facebook will warn you that the other person is not available for the video chat. You can also invite friends to a video call by connecting to their profile page and clicking on the button Who loves located at the top right.
