Let’s start this excursus among the apps to mix songs by talking about Cross DJ. It is a resource available at no cost to either iOS than on Android capable of offering a very rewarding remixing experience. Work like a full-fledged DJ console, with turntables for mixing, scratching, rewinding, adding effects, activating automixing and more. To begin with, download, install and start the app on your device and then use the buttons + (plus symbol) located at the top right and left of the screen to select the songs you want to mix with each other. It is free to download, it is available for both Android that for iOS, offers the ability to access tons of tracks on SoundCloud and Deezer, has an intelligent music library with global search and allows you to create playlists in advance to use for your DJ sets. It has a beautiful, very realistic user interface and the results are guaranteed. It is also available in a Pro variant (paid and with additional functions) always for Android and for iOS.

To start having fun with the application, download it from the Play Store or App Store depending on the device you are using, install it and start it, then indicate your DJ stage name you want to use by typing it in the appropriate field on the screen (needed to save and share mixes) and stop on the button OK.

Then wait for the main interface of the application to load and then press the two buttons with the musical notes that are at the top to select the songs on which you want to intervene. Then stop on the first button Play at the bottom left, then on the one at the bottom right and if necessary use the button SYB in the center to place the two pieces at the same speed so as to be able to operate on a direct transition.

At this point, you can begin to move your fingers on the two discs to mix the songs, you can use the bars in the center to adjust the volume and the buttons at the top to apply further changes and customizations to the remix. Below you will find the buttons to add further effects to cut and the buttons CUE.

At the top of the screen there are then the progress bars of the songs, the button Pitch to maintain the key of the song while the bmp and button are changed REC to register the composition.

It has been designed to be used also by “newbies” so to use it it is not essential to have special technical knowledge in this area. Note that it owes its name to its completely three-dimensional and very very realistic interface.

To use the application on your device, download it from the reference store on your device, install and start it. Then stop on the button Jump!press the button with the musical note which is both on the right and on the left to select the tracks on which to act and presses on both buttons Play to start playing songs and start mixing.

Then use the sliders to the right of each disc to define the tempo of both tracks and to adjust the volume that you can possibly restore to the default value by pressing the yellow buttons with the arrow. Instead, by pressing on the buttons in the center you can use the various loops and apply the sound effects. By selecting the button REC you can then start recording your track. Of course, you can mix your chosen tracks further and create new effects even by moving the record directly.

In the upper right-hand part of the virtual console you will find the button to set a playlist and quickly change the songs at the appropriate time, while the arrow towards left located in the upper left part of the screen, it allows you to quickly access the various sections of the mixer.

Beat Rock (Android / iOS)

The mixing apps I have already told you about haven’t convinced you because you are looking for something more, like saying, simple but at the same time functional? Then try taking a look at Beat Rock and you will see that it will not disappoint you. This is a free app (but with in-app purchases to add new features) available for Android that for iOS which allows users to mix their favorite tracks through automatic technology. It has an essential and cardboard interface, offers all the basic tools to start mixing songs together and can count on a community of users that is quite active with which to share their creations and from which to draw inspiration. It hasn’t been updated for a while, this must be said, but it still continues to work excellently on both smartphones and tablets. In short, why not try it now?

To start using the application, download it from the Play Store or the App Store according to the device you are using, install it and start it then presses the icon of the mixer at the top left and follow the short introductory tutorial of the features that is proposed to you by always pressing on Continue. At this point, press on the voices Tap to load track left and right and choose the songs you want to start mixing and then presses the two buttons Play to start playback.

You can then use the buttons in the center and the related tools that you see appear on the side to apply effects, choose where to end the pieces and how and much more.   • djay FREE (Android) – Another good application belonging to the genus in question. It offers everything you need to mix your favorite songs and allows you to get the songs you want from Spotify as well. It supports various audio formats and is not at all difficult to use. Free.
  • Traktor DJ (iPhone/iPad) – Excellent app available in a dedicated version for iPhone and iPad with perfect rendering on the touch screen of both Apple devices. It is very easy to use even for beginners but, this must be said, it consumes a lot of battery. It is paid.
  • Pacemaker (iOS) – Valid application with a simple but innovative interface that allows you to mix music in a different way than usual, according to the developers easier. It can be connected to Spotify by intervening on any song available on the famous music streaming service. Free.
