The smartphone is one of the most “personal” devices we deal with every day. We always carry it with us and use it to carry out the most diverse activities. It is therefore right to adapt it to our needs and tastes. And in this Android it doesn’t beat.
To this end, in the past I have pointed out numerous apps that you can use to make your mobile phone more “smart”, both in the workplace and at play. Today, however, I want to focus on the aesthetic side of the device, more precisely on the background of the home screen and the lock screen.
Below you will find a collection of apps and websites that offer beautiful wallpapers for Android to download for free. If you want to embellish your smartphone (or your tablet) and make it more “personal”, immediately take a look at the practically immense archive of wallpapers that are equipped with the apps and sites listed below and choose the images that the more you like them. Considering the abundance of choice, I’m sure you will be able to find something that satisfies you in no time. Happy reading and, above all, happy downloading!
Android wallpaper app
Let’s start this excursus among the resources to find wallpapers for Android from the apps used for this purpose: below you will find those that, in my humble opinion, represent the best in the category. Try them now and I am sure they will satisfy you.
The first among the applications to find wallpapers for Android smartphones and tablets that I suggest you consider is Google Wallpapers . As can be guessed from the name itself, it is a resource made available by Google, thanks to which it is possible to find and download wallpapers of various kinds, including images from Google Earth, completely free of charge.
To download it on your device, visit the relevant section of the Play Store and press the Install button , then start the app by tapping the Open button that appeared on the screen. Subsequently, scroll the main screen of the application to browse the various categories available (eg Nature , City etc.) and, when you find the one you are interested in, tap on the relevant box to view all the wallpapers it includes.
Then, when you find a background you like, presses on its preview, select the Set background item located at the top right and indicate, mediate the menu that opens, if you want to set the image as background for the Home screen, to the lock screen or both.
Another great app to find new wallpapers for Android that I want to advise you to try is Wallz : it is an application that allows users to download wallpapers in HD suitable for all tastes and from different sources: Flickr, Pixabay and various other image sites. It’s free, but offers in-app purchases (starting at $ 1.49) to unlock additional content.
To download it on your Android smartphone or tablet, visit the relevant section of the Play Store , tap the Install button and start the app by tapping the Open button that appeared on the screen. Once the main HD Wallpapers screen is displayed, start scrolling through the list of the various wallpaper categories available (eg Amoled , Minimalist etc.) and select the one that interests you most.
Then scroll through the list of wallpapers that is shown to you and press on the preview of the one you like best. If this satisfies you, to download it in the gallery of your device, press the button with the down arrow at the top right. If, on the other hand, you want to set it as a background directly from the app, press the button with the three vertical dots always placed at the top of the screen, select the Use as item from the menu that opens and choose whether to set the image as background for the Home screen, for the lock screen, or both.
If before downloading the image to your device or setting it as a background directly from the app you want to add a blur effect or you want to crop it, you can do it simply by selecting the items in the menu that appears after pressing the button with the three vertical dots ( top right).
In an article dedicated to what are the best resources to find wallpapers for Android it is practically impossible not to mention the name of Kappboom : it is a renowned free app that boasts over 100,000 collections of images to choose from. What’s more, the wallpapers are all in very high quality, suitable for any screen and responding to everyone’s tastes.
To download it on your Android smartphone or tablet, visit the relevant section of the Play Store , tap the Install button and start the app by tapping the Open button that appeared on the screen. Now that you see the main screen of Kappboom, scroll through the list of wallpapers available in search of something that may interest you and, once found, presses on its preview.
If the chosen background convinces you, then press the down arrow button at the bottom of the screen and choose, through the menu that appears, whether to download the image in the device gallery or whether to set the wallpaper directly from the app.
I also point out that, if proceeding as I indicated in the previous lines you should not be able to find any wallpaper you like, you can view the wallpapers available on the app by category, by pressing the drawer icon located at the top and then on the name of the one you are interested in (eg 3D , Abstract etc.), or you can search by keyword, by tapping on the magnifying glass symbol located at the top of the main Kappboom screen.

- Backdops – renowned app belonging to the subject category of this tutorial. Contains hundreds of beautifully crafted wallpapers that can be downloaded at no cost. Note, however, that not all wallpapers are free. In fact, there are also some Premium wallpapers that can only be unlocked through in-app purchases (with a cost starting from 1.09 euros).

Android wallpaper sites
Now let’s move on to the sites to download wallpapers for Android : below you will find the ones that, in my opinion, you would do well to save in your browser’s favorites. Open them as soon as you feel like changing the wallpaper of your smartphone or tablet and you won’t regret it!
Among the best sites that offer wallpapers for Android is Zedge (I pointed out the relevant app in the previous lines ) which includes images of all kinds, totally free and well done.
To use it, connect to the section of Zedge dedicated to wallpapers , start scrolling the list of available wallpapers and, when you find one you like, tap on its preview. To download it, press the down arrow button located at the top right. Alternatively, you can self-send yourself a link to the image by pressing the right arrow button (always present at the top right) and choosing one of the available sharing options.
It should be noted that, unfortunately, on Zedge the backgrounds are not organized into categories but, if you are looking for something specific, you can take advantage of the search bar located at the top, by typing in the reference keywords and then giving Enter .
Another site that cannot be missing from your bookmarks is Interfacelift . Have you heard of it before? If the answer is no, bad. You are missing hundreds of breathtaking photos that can be freely downloaded in any format, both mobile and desktop, with a particular eye to the resolutions of the main Android terminals on the market.
To download wallpapers from Interfacelift, connect to the section of the site dedicated to Android and use the buttons with the numbers at the bottom to browse all the wallpapers available. Alternatively, go to the search bar on the left and type in a term (in English) that might match a category of wallpapers. For example, you can search for the term “abstract” and select the corresponding tag from the menu with automatic suggestions to view all abstract illustrations, “moon” to view photos that have the moon as a subject, “nature” to consult the list of wallpaper dedicated to natural landscapes and so on.
When you find a wallpaper you like, you can download it by selecting the resolution of your device from the drop-down menu located under its thumbnail and pressing the adjacent Download button . On the page that opens (with the photo in full size) make a long tap (or right click, if you are working as a PC) on the image and select the item to save it from the menu that appears.
Another great site that you can rely on to find wallpapers for your Android device is Unsplash : it is a portal on which professional and passionate photographers regularly publish their shots, all in high quality. Such images are well suited to be used as wallpapers for mobile phones and tablets (as well as for computers). Note that the photos on the site can be used freely, as they are released under a Creative Commons Zero license (therefore they are not protected by copyright).
To download wallpapers from Unsplash, go to the home page of the site and select the category of your interest from those at the top (eg Nature , Landscape etc.). You can then find further collections of images by tapping on the Collection item (always present at the top). If you are looking for images corresponding to a specific keyword, however, you can find them by typing the latter in the field at the top.
Then, browse the list of available images, locate the one you like and download it immediately by tapping on the button with the arrow next to the relative thumbnail. If you want to see the enlarged image first, simply tap on it.
